Default Carport discovery!

My son Curtis had a "car story" that he related yesterday concerning a most unlikely discovery. He rides his bike on Fridays after work and often takes one or more of the available in town trails after he leaves his condo. Well this past Friday he was on a familiar route and decided to cut through a neighborhood that he had never been through and as he was passing a house on his left and getting ready to make a turn he caught a glimpse of the back of a car in the carport just in front of a pickup truck. Being pretty sure it was a 2nd gen TransAm he swung around to get a closer look and hopefully catch the owner outside so he could get more details. And while he was putting 2 and 2 together the owner did appear from the side of the house so Curtis got his attention. It took a minute or two for my son to convince him that he posed no threat and only wanted to know a bit more about the car as any Pontiac fan and Firebird/TransAm fan would want to know. Well, this turned out to be a genuine 1973 SD TransAm with the 4-speed! I think the total # of SD TransAMs for 1973 was 252 and only 72 of those had the 4-speed. It is in Brewster Green and although some mods have been done to enhance its drag racing performance the owner said he has all the original parts and can put the car back into stock trim fairly easily. I hope to get a chance to see the car and talk to the owner in the next week or two. The Pontiac club in Jacksonville is coming over to Gainesville Raceway on April 20th so hopefully I can get him to bring the SD to the track. More details as they unfold.

Yea, that got my attention. I think most if not all classic car insurance companies require the car to be in a secure garage or similar storage area when not in use. When I get a chance to talk to the owner I am going to ask him about that.
