Unhappy Sad day for me

And for some here I’m sure. I found out from a friend who ran the Mustang show at the annual PYPEs Car Show in Hatfield PA, that the show that was in June is done and I’m very sad to see it go. I got to see people from these forums and some very awesome cars. The Pontiac Show was the best I’ve attended in my area. The other two shows going on at the same time also awesome! A very sad day for me.

I saw a GTO show come up in Valley Forge Park....Did PY move their show?

...maybe the interested Mustang folks would like VF Park that day too?

No I’m not sure what the exact reason is, just that it wasn’t going to be cancelled for just this year, but done completely according to the Mustang Club person who told me. PYPEs is 20 minutes from me I absolutely loved that show, 3 shows actually last year was 4 shows in one, an All makes and models, a Mustang show, a Mopar show, and the biggest was the Pontiac show.

I’ll just get GTO emblems and put them over my Firebird emblems, put my Tiger (Roar) in the passenger, and slip on into a GTO show.

I’m protesting! Just putting it out there, I AM NOT HAPPY about this AT ALL! I’ll be paying the guys at PYPE’s a little visit on Friday picking up a part, and we’re gonna have a little discussion.

Stu, it doesn't say why there's no show. CCass should be on here explaining what's going on before there's a riot. I might not have made all the shows since I bought my GTO but I liked the ones I did go to. Same reason as MaryAnn... getting to see the guys from the forums.

There may not be much of a market with the mustang crowd. If you hold an event to hopefully generate business, and it does not...you have decide what to do...

The Pontiac events around here have been slipping away also. Last Tulsa event was maybe 4 years ago?
Pontiac Southern Nationals was an awesome event, pre 9-11. They do have an event at that air museum, no drag racing...
The Wichita GTO club has had an event at Great Bend, Ks. Last lee real years. Before it was in Wichita and before that Ark City, Ks.
But these events that are still being held, are barely hanging on. Not enough participants or spectators..

Could't pay me to go to a ford event...

It wasn’t a “Ford” event It was everything, just broke down a bit to make it different. This wasn’t a Pontiacs only event, as you know, it was a PYPEs event, and PYPEs are for ALL! . Plus Chris has a pretty Bad Ass Mustang too.

There were more Pontiacs there than any other make, but the show was pretty cool having 4 shows in one. Everyone loved it, there’s an appreciation for all that attended. This event will truly be missed. Maybe it will come back who knows.

MaryAnn, keep checking the Northeast's show forum. You'd like the SVGTO's Annual All Pontiac Show in Landisville just North of Lancaster. Plus the BOPC show held in West Chester.... tho I haven't heard of the date for it yet. Both are good shows.

Car shows are really getting scarce in the Lehigh Valley. Back in the 70's and 80's they seemed to be all over the place in the LV and seemed to be every weekend. I can't drive 45 mins to 1 hour min to go to a car show as my car is not built for that. Cruise nights seem to be taking over, which I do not mind, but I do like like to go to a car show, just something nostalgic about going.

If anyone knows a source for car shows and cruise nights in the LV area, please post the link.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark. Is West Chester too far? It would be great to see you at a show. I'm still running that exhaust setup from your 65. And it still sounds great.

I loved the PY Show too and sad to see it gone. Drove 2 hours one way to attend. PY lost too much money each year on it. If anyone’s tight with CCass, ask him what kind of sponsorship level it would take to bring it back. Might take $10k or so. I’d be ok with throwing in a couple bucks and if many did the same it might be enough, along with the sponsorship, to get the show back.

MA, if you look at the northeast section, the info for the SVGTO show is posted under the Pypes show headline. Its in august at a small park in Lancaster. I have been a couple of times without my car, but I plan on attending with it this year. Its a pretty decent show, I have a buddy with a 77 se who will probably go too. It would be nice to have several 'Burts' in a line.

Hi Gary,

That is awesome that you are still using that system and it still sounds great.

West Chester would be too far for me to drive with my ride. Would take (2) 16 gallon tanks of gas to go down to West Chester and back and with cam2 at $10.00 per gal. that would be about $320 just to go to the show.

I am looking into a trailer to start taking the car further distances due to the lack of shows in my local area.

Thanks for the info,

Mark

The Indian Uprising grows each year by leaps and bounds. Could see 700 Pontiacs this year but planning on 600.
