Default 1980 Pace Car Seat Color Question

I have a 1980 Pace Car TA

I am trying to dye the seat vinal to the original color for the front seats and the 2 lower back seats. I have my upper back and door panels for color reference. I know the color fades from 1980.

I tried to this reconditioning spray from The Parts Place:

59-88 GM Interior Recondition Spray Paint Oyster 86 Top Coat Vinyl Plastic Metal. Is basically White no Bueno not even close just white.

I researched new door panels and new seat covers to try to get the correct vinal color the color is called Oyster Sierra Grain

Firebird Central AD:
New front bucket seat cover set for your Firebird Trans Am. Exact fit for all 1980 Pace Car models. Features Oyster Sierra grain outer vinyl with Oyster Hobnail cloth inserts. Made with OEM quality materials, original grain patterns and true factory color match.

I am going to call Firebird Central tomorrow possibly they have a dye that matches?

I used SEM super White 15103 for the plastic pieces it was an exact match (Took lots of internet research but paid off) Same color used on the 80 corvette plastics

Any Help Greatly Appreciated.

i cant help on the correct color but would recommend against trying to paint the seats, they are a high wear item & any paint you use will not last, for all the work involved i would rather buy new seat covers or try & find a nice used set of seats.

the only positive thing is it's not a color change so it may last/look better than a full color change i have seen done & it wears through pretty fast if the seats are used much, for a garage queen or mostly show car it will obviously last longer.

what product are you planning to use? SEM?

Get a 1980 dealer album, there’s samples in there. For my car, I ended up buying 3 albums till I found one with camel in. They sell easy. Look for one with your color before you buy it. I sold a 80 album a few back.
Also there color and trim brochures, way cheaper, but if you got the car, get the album. Complete albums are like $150

Hope it lasts on the seats. SEM is paint, not dye.

Default The color was way wrong

The recommended color was way wrong it was like a brown

I had a funny feeling that I was getting a generic canned answer

Proved right

The search continues

Yeah, no one at FBW is an actual enthusiast since Pete left, just quick sales.
