Default 4L65? Trans shop RECO in Eastern PA?

A fella needs his modern GTO transmission (4L65?) rebuilt to Street/Strip capability. His car presently run low 12s, yet is slated to hit high 11s.

Thanks in advance. HIS

It is CRITICAL that he gets a UPDATED rebuilt valve body and not just new APC and shift solenoids. These trannys are well known for Slamming into gear due to high pressure problems. ( Solenoid bores need to be rebuilt and new sonex solendoids installed) A good friend has had his done ( rebuilt) 3 times , then I insisted that they use a valve body we bought, that was bored and rebuilt correctly, and dyno tested by itself.
Generic tranny places around here now ship em out and get a generic rebuild. problems persist.
With a updated valvebody and updated rebuilt pump, Im sure you could do this rebuild H.I.S.

Interesting. I am considering eventually installing one behind the Turbo L6.

The trans for your bird that would be easy is a 200R4. Mine is stage "3" , 500 hp, and they can be built even stronger. Mine sits behind a 455. For a RWD version of the tranny in this thread you would go with a 4L60 for RWD.( 2wd chevy truck from 1994 will have one) Youll need a harness and computer unless you have one built with a manual valvebody. Updates as listed above still needed.
The 200 you can get a crossmember for and only needs the TH400 +12v to use the lock up.
good luck

I'm just about finished with rebuilding a 2004r for it right now. The megasquirt 3 will control the lock up function and I'd get a Megashift expansion for a 4L60e (or 4L65e or 4L70e).

Fella ended up taking it back to the same place (in NJ) that reworked it more than 2 times.
Me thinks the performance and reliability issues will not be done with.
He either will keep or sell the GTO based on the outcome.

That tranny can be "fixed" , but a traditional rebuild isnt going to do it. Good luck!
