Loose mixture screws in metering block
Hey everybody,
Concerned about vibration affecting mixture screws as they turn very easily. What you guys doing so they don't change setting through vibration? Thanks again, Craig |

Appears as Old-school Holley. Seems that metering blocks are from Mark Sullens – Did not come with cork gaskets – even though came from Mark Sullens E85 build.
Nothing against Mark – He works hard and does good work. |

Where do you get cork gaskets?

They come in most Holley rebuild kits. I'd check and see if he omitted them due to E85 compatibility. I think it's ok, but there could be some reason... I may have some laying around I'll see.

Holley shows cork and nylon. I've never used the nylon.

mark sullens metering blocks are primarily E85. Are you sure the bowl are marled sullens and maybe the metering blocks are holley, for normal gas? what is your application. as others have said i would replace the mixture screw gaskets.

Since we have had at least 10% ethanol in the pump fuel for years on Holley street
carbs, and the cork gaskets seem to last for a good while. And since Holley has sold alcohol carbs for several years, and people have probably used the cork gaskets on those metering blocks for a period of time, I would just try the cork and see it it meets your needs. Tom V.

Put a short lenght of 8 or so pound test fishing line in each hole and reinsert the mixture screw, the line will act like a nylock , heck even unwaxed dental floss might be big enough to work!

Hey Guys - all good ideas.
Emailed Mark - he said he used vinyl tubing. Ordered the Quick Time vinyl gaskets - hopefully fit as correct size (diameter screws) for the billet blocks. Thanks Again and Good Racing! Craig |
