Engine lift points?
Hi,
I'm about to pull a Sprint 6 out of a '68 Firebird. Are there preferred points to hook up a chain to the block? I have the intake/exhaust removed. I don't want to commit a faux pas, and connect at some fragile point of the motor! Thanks

If you are using a single chain with just 2 bolts for the PS find the 3/8” bolt boss on the side of the head either at the front of the head or right behind the coil.
On the DS since the intake and exhaust are off, just use one of the manifold bolt holes towards the rear of the head that allows you to balance the lift. Avoid the power steering, alternator and AC mounts as they are all cast aluminum. |

Agreed, I like to keep the chain short so it lifts up about 2" above the Cam Housing and hook it in line with the back of the carb.
This point is almost a perfectly balanced lifting point for just the engine, No trans.

Can the engine without trans be removed from a 67 LeMans without removing hood? I know it requires rotating engine during removal.

I would not try it, I don't think it is possible.
