Default Power piston loose

Hey guys - i was putting the top back on my center carb ('66) and the power piston falls out into the carb bowl before i can get the top in place. I assume once its in place, the length of the rod pressed against the power valve keeps it from falling into the bowl?

How loose is the power piston supposed to be, and is there a trick to keep it in the hole as you put the top on?

You need to stake it in place. I use a very small finish nail set on an angle in two or three spots. DO NOT go crazy, you should be able to slowly pick up the air horn by the piston
