Default Sec gen manual steering box question

What's the best manual steering box out there to swap onto a 73 Formula ? GM or aftermarket

Easiest swap it the 4 bolt cover S-10 box. I think mid 90s. The PS pitman swaps right on.

Our host has new ones for sale; if they are anything like the Delphi box in my T/A it should be superb.

I知 in the same boat, owning. 1974 Firebird with a PS gear installed in a race car. The PO said he ran it disconnected which I guess would work for drag racing, but it seems like a lot of extra weight to put up from needlessly.

I知 planning on swapping in a manual steering gear.

Which one is lighter the OEM manual box or a mid nineties S-10 box?

Does anyone know an aluminum steering gearbox that would work? At this point I知 just looking for options.

My understanding is unless you have a light car do not use an aluminum box. Factory F body manual boxes also I think took a different specific pitman arm.

Darby, what are you using now???

Using a power box without the pump can be dangerous, it's difficult to turn a power box with no assist, for even the strongest person.
