Default 70 TA PHS option question

I'm looking at PHS on a 70 TA, and one option is Deck Lid-Con, code 554 at a cost of $14.74.

Did some digging and haven't figured out what it is. What is it?

Trunk lid release. Opens trunk using button in glove box (I think on where it's at)

That's pretty cool! I didn't realize earlier cars could have a power trunk.

Green button in 1970 in the glove box for valet reasons.
The option code changed a bit through the years

Very cool. I've never seen one before. I know the later cars had the big yellow button in the glove box.

This TA has a bunch of luxury oriented items on the phs. Deluxe seatbelts, deluxe interior, vanity mirror, rear stereo speaker, AC, tinted glass etc etc.

Pretty nifty.

Getting that 70 AC stuff back correct is some homework.

That’s cool. I had no idea this was available in 1970.

My '71 Catalina had that green button in the glove box. It operated a solenoid that pushed on the trunk release. It was kind of a handy option.

I wouldn't be surprised if the button and solenoid were universal parts that would work on other models - if a person wanted to add one to a Firebird, it may be worth looking for a full size car to scavenge the parts from.

My '63 GP has the remote trunk release (including button in the glove box).

The vacuum system did not have enough "oomph" to pop the trunk, so I did retrofit with a more modern electric system.

The big cars with the yellow button, well that button is MUCH bigger and a large hole would need to be made in the glove box door hinge and modify dash to get it in. I did do this with a 76 Bonneville switch on an early bird. Works though, in fact I have made them work on my remote lock key fob.
