Silver interior trim oxidation.
Anybody having problems with the silver trim on steering wheel and parking brake lever handle developing white spots? My 06 GTO (Cyclone gray/Charcoal) has developed what looks like aluminum oxide on these trim parts. Car is not a daily driver (25000mi)and sits covered indoors. I've only wiped down interior with DRY rags/towels.

No problems with mine. Try wiping down with some interior cleaner/protectant.

I seem to recall it being very difficult to keep the silver bits clean on my 04, no matter what I'd do...spots. So far no trouble with the 06. What goatnut said!

Humbler I see your 06 is red/red with a m6. Does it also have the 18" wheels?

Cool! Now I know there are at least 2 of the 188 left.

Plenty more than 2 but yes good to know! I've got SLP headers and exhaust and K&N. Should have coilovers, shifter and new tune over the next month or so, can't wait to put some miles on her!

I have an '06 Red/Red auto. It has less than 5k miles and while it is garaged, it is not covered. I have no oxidation/spotting problems, but one spoke is cracked/warped. I bought it in late 2006 brand new and it's never spent more than a few hours outside the garage.

I have heard of the steering wheel trim doing that. To bad it didnt happen while it was still in warranty. Have you checked on a replacement piece?

There is a GM kit to replace the silver spokes on the wheel. You need to take off the wheel to replace them. Just got a kit for my 2005

i've had to replace the steering wheel spokes twice on my 04 due to the paint bubbling. the rest of my interior has been just fine. 92,000 miles on mine. daily driven up until 2 years ago. i usually use soap and water to wash the interior down with and then an interior shine product to ad to the gloss. no armoral used on mine. sits outside in the summer and inside in the winter. tinted windows to protect from some of the sun but not all.
