In otherwords, make sure your a/c works. Only S. Florida is more humid than Baton Rouge in June.

I got to run the track at Norwalk, right before they cut it off. Glad I did it. As far as the trip it goes as follows:
June 6 – Alliant Energy Center, Madison, Wisconsin June 7 – Parkland College, Champaign, Illinois June 8 – Gateway Motorsports Park, Madison, Illinois (St. Louis) June 9 – Memphis International Raceway, Memphis, Tennessee June 10 – Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, Hoover / Birmingham, Alabama June 11 - TBD June 12 – Lamar Dixon Expo Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana June 13 – Lamar Dixon Expo Center – LONG HAULERS ONLY* *Saturday, June 13th, is not open to the general public. The venue will only open for the Hot Rod Power Tour Long Hauler ceremony. This will be my third longhaul. The TBD stop is supposed to be Biloxi, MS but rumor has it the venue may be changed to Monroe, LA or Jackson, MS.

I'm surprised they didn't try to go to the Coles County Dragway when they stop in Champaign for the Parkland College stop.

Got to run once on that track as well in '12. A lot of folks don't like the fact that a lot of the stops are re-runs but i'm just happy to get away for a week to and meet up with friends I only see once a year cause they are all so spread out.

I went yesterday to Madison with my blue '68. I guess it was a record for first day attendance. Weather was perfect, Pontiacs everywhere. Sorry I don't have pix to share, but people were taking pix of my Goat all day long. I'm kind of a wreck today, I spent too much time hobbling around the vendor midway with my cane, but it's a crappy, rainy day today so I can just rest. . Good luck on the Tour and have fun to anybody doing the long haul...

I have seen a good number of Rodded Pontiacs & thought this was worthy of a post.
I asked the owners if they were Pontiac people or what attracted them to the car. They replied that they were actually Chevelle people and thought it was awesome. I then suggested that being a "Pontiac", of course it was! Very nice restoration. |
