Got a text from my guy yesterday "Heres some more Bull****! ****ing screws are so tight you have to cave the door in with a hammer screw driver to remove them"

I know he's getting burnt out on the car and wants to just get it out of his shop for a bit. He's been working on it 6 days a week for almost 4 months now. So, I brought him another payment installment to kind of smooth things over.

My grandfather is visiting us this week, so we took out the 65 Oldsmobile that I bought at Mecum Kissimmee a few months ago. He loved it

Awesome project - I love the metallic green! Makes me want to do my '64 Bonneville coupe a similar colour.

For those door screws I had a really tough time with my '62. I soaked them in Inox/penetrating oil, then alternated between heating with a butane torch and using a freeze spray. I then got them out using a Phillips-head screwdriver that had a fitting on the shaft for a spanner, continuing to heat/freeze the top and back of each screw.

Hope that helps.

Only took me 3 months, and 4 different glass companies until I found one for this car. Had to drive 3 hours to a small glass place in the blue ridge mountains. They had it the very next day. Everyone else quoted me 2 weeks, and ultimately never did deliver.

To my surprise, the windshield frame is almost perfcet!

Did you find an American windshield? I have been looking for a new one for my '63 Safari but can only find Chinese.....my window channel was perfect, cleaned and repainted, waiting for glass.

How did you install the windshield? Specifically, where did you put the bedding compound? Steele says to install some on perimeter of the rubber, and some 90 degrees from the pinch weld. is that what you did? Did you soap the inside of the gasket that the windshield fits in? Getting ready to do the 64 GP. Rockauto had the glass. I had some succes with putting the bedding compound behind the cord on the rear window. The cord came out covered in compound but the window never leaked. Thanks. Adam

No doubt about it! When I had my 62 body and chassis bead blasted, I and three other guys went around for a couple of hours bumping panels with our hands and followed up with shop vacuums.
