I can;t tell you the difference but the tank and vent on my 81 smells of gas-identical setup on my 78 does not. I hooked a factory charcoal setup on the 81 and it was fixes. And yes the vent line is the source not the carb.

I am very much considering one in the trunk behind the rear seat. Running a couple bulkhead fittings through the trunk floor
