Default Unitized to HEI ignition conversion

I plan to upgrade my '72 455 from the original Unitized ignition to an HEI unit. Are the HEI's 'plug-and-play' for this type of conversion?

I've found the instructions to change from points and coil to HEI, but nothing on Unitized to HEI.

TIA for any help you can give.

Yes, HEI is "plug&play" IF you can find a unit with a similar ignition curve as your unitized unit.

F.e. the 1975 400 4bbl A/T #112948 HEI is close to the #1112127 "Unitized" distributor.
