I have one like it on my 1967 GTO. It is mounted across the dash opening where the steering column fits up. It is under the column going from one side of the opening to the other.

Goes across the top of the driver-side lap vent on models with AC;

Can you provide some dimensions? My 67 is missing this piece and I would like to try and fabricate one. Right now I just have a flat piece screwed to the under dash to mount the air deflector. Thanks.

The pictures you provided appear to be the correct for 67 with AC & 8-track DS lap vent bracket 9788984. Compare the relative length with the AC only DS lap vent bracket 9787826. Attached are some dimensions of the AC only version to help guide you fabricating one for AC & 8-track.

Thumbs up GOOD TO KNOW

Something I wasn't aware of.
Never thought the mounting brackets on the 8-Track would interfere with the lap vent, doesn't look that close.

Thanks for this info.

@gto4ben. Thanks for the information. Mine is AC only. I would not have thought there was a different bracket for 8-track. Maybe I will post in the parts wanted first to try and find one.

Thank you. Explains why the part is in a box labeled underdash A/C vents . Here's a photo with dimensions for the A/C with 8trk version.

Got scammed on this site trying to buy one from parts wanted forum. Luckily only $35.00. First time it has ever happened.

So I ended up making my own (see photo). Fit and function are very good.Thanks everyone for providing such detailed information.
