Default Yoke insertion depht

What depht should the front driveshaft yoke go into the rear of the Muncie 4 speed?

Default Drive shaft Lenght

Can someone measure their stock 66 driveshaft lenght (center to center of universal joints) and also lenght of front yoke. Thanks

The stock driveshaft is 60".
You should be able to push the yoke forward just enough to remove the driveshaft from rearend.

I remember a local driveshaft place telling me that the yoke should be 3/4" out from as far as it would go into the trans. The 1" stated above is right in line with that.

I have read 5/8" but in any case it's in the ballpark.

In a related case, my son has a 2000 Trans Am and the rear end had some slop so he chose a Strange S60 3:73 i believe and had vibes on deceleration. Long story short took it to a 'respected' driveline place where they messed with the rear diff but no real success.
The driveshaft was also changed with the axle. I was examining it and noticed the trans yoke had about 1-3/4" of slop in the insertion depth. I feel that could contribute to the original problem. He has not taken any action on it yet so I don't know if it's a problem or not.
