I bought an inexpensive one online and it looks exactly like the original I took off my car which was surprising.... unless the one on my car was not original?

The one on the car has been replaced (yellow lettering on the hose) and has a much different bend where it goes into the steering box. So far the ones I have seen online are like the one I have or are a two piece hose with a crimp band in the middle of the hose. Where did you get yours?

Interesting assortment. The ones where the hard line loops back towards the steering box appear to be replacements that were used when the original style was no longer available. My original 72 SJ GP has that style hose. The one with the tag that says "real 69" I believe is the original design and what I am looking for. Can you get a couple of close up shots of the one that has the tag on it showing condition of the rubber, threads, hard lines? Thanks.

Just as a point of information ... I was able to re-zinc plate the metal portions of my original hose which made it look much nicer.
A possible option if you find on that is very sound, but not very attractive.

Did you send it to someone for zinc plating or do it yourself? Very interested in how to do this. Thanks.

Looks like you already have a hose ... but the zinc plating does come in handy for other hard to find parts. I did it myself using basic zinc plating techniques, but just immersed the metal end of the hose. Easiest way for a person new to the process is probably buying a kit from Caswell, Eastwood etc. Pretty easy and quick, no real nasty chemicals like some other plating processes.

There is a pretty big thread on it in the Members helping Members section called "Zinc Plating Fun"
