Default 2022 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race - September 15, 16, & 17

We are a week away from the 2022 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex near Stanton, MI (2589 N. Wyman Rd., Stanton, MI 48888). Thursday we start 'early tech' starting at noon until 5:00 pm; Friday continues tech at 9:00 am and time trials/qualifying starting at 10:00 am until 5:00 pm; and Saturday track opens at 8:00 am with warm-up runs starting at 9:30 am, race pairings announced, and then the best 2 of 3 racing beginning around 1:30 pm. Cars are matched by closest qualifying ET's so the racing is always close and fun!

This is the best car show you could ever attend, no sitting in lawn chairs behind your muscle car! It's time to see what they were meant to do...rev them up and dump the clutch and burn up those wide ovals!

The weather is looking really nice for Friday & Saturday, low 80's and no rain. perfect end of summer weather for the Pure Stock Drags.

The weather forecast is about perfect for end of summer racing (no rain) with daytime highs in the low 80's and mostly sunny for all three days. We're expecting a bumper crop of Pontiacs to show up to race this year and welcome our Canadian Pure Stock brethren back from a long hiatus of the border being closed.

Best day to attend if one can only attend one as a spectator ? Is test and tune more action packed than race day ? I have a prior commitment that I need to attend but am flexible on Friday or Saturday but not both. Please advise. Thank You.

Hi Tim, Boy, that's a toss-up...? There is more racing/runs on Friday and the atmosphere is more relaxed, but Saturday is the better racing as the cars are closest ET-wise and people love to stroll the staging lanes before the 1st round. Me? I would choose Saturday.

The 2022 Pure Stock Drags are 'in the books' with another successful event with 131 cars total, 7 cars withdrawing due to mechanical issues, so 62 race pairings. Only 1 car went too quick with an 11.46 sec et after back-pedaling at the 1000' mark...on the very first pass down the track on Friday morning. We had a good showing of Pontiacs from Brad Risings '64 Tri-Power GTO to John Eberly's '79 Formula WS6, Brad Pringle's '74 SD-455 TA, Paul Aragona's '74 SD-455 Formula, Adrian Beltrame's '69 RAIV Firebird 400, a new '71 .5 GT-37 with a 455HO replacing the original (long gone) 400 4-bbl owned by Kevin Ross, and many other good running Pontiacs. Wish I took a few pictures, but some should show up on FB. Thanks to all the racers and spectators that support our niche event! We couldn't do it without you!
