My good friend is the shop teacher at the local Tech High School. They are building a Turbo Regal into a G-machine for GM High Tech Performance magazine. E-Rod engine, OD trans not supplied yet, rear not supplied yet. Frame has been painted, after market suspension kit installed with huge bars, mtr in bay. It will have big brakes & built to handle. I'll post some pics next time I go over. He's bolting in an A-body 12 bolt to test fit for my 2+2. It's in GM High Tech January issue.

I taught HS auto shop for 7 years back in the 90's. Fun for a while, that's when and where I restored my 66 Safari wagon! But then it got to political. Got pushed out bc they brought in a football coach who happened to teach auto shop at the school he came from.

here's an email I got from Melvin about the crazy 2+2:

We are still at it, it is up and running and driving. The updates stopped due to the website having stability issues. We are in the process of overhauling the website but it is taking longer then I anticipated.

Thanks

Mel

I've got the wife's Aero Coupe frame welded up. I repaired six body mount holes. The worst ones were the two under the firewall. I boxed the frame using 1/8th inch steel which is about the same thickness as the frame. I also added some structural support near the rear control arms. Rewelded some weak looking factory welds and added to other areas.

Here's a few more pictures. I grafted a brace into the rear coilspring towers. The next step is to strip down the rest of the frame. Sandblast it then paint it.

Here's a fresh coat of paint on the frame and control arms. Picked up a budget 20 ton press from Harbor Frieght to install the bushings and lower ball joints.

I've got the front suspension together, here's a few photos. I went with urethane bushings on the control arms. The front end parts on these G-body cars are reasonably priced, the rotors were only $24.99 each.

I didn't want that ugly wheel well in the trunk. So I removed it in a way that one could be put back in without major surgery.

I got this manual steering box out of an 86 S-10 . Haven't checked the rag joint yet but it looks like a drop in.
