My box of A/C components to be restored/replaced has two driers in it so just trying to confirm which is correct for my 66 GTO. The shorter unit appears to have a welded on bottom cap. The top of this unit has nothing stamped into it to indicate which port is for the condenser and which is for the evaporator. I think this an aftermarket piece.

The taller unit does not have a cap welded on the bottom. The canister is one piece of cast/stamped aluminum. It also has EVAP and COND stamped into the top of it. This looks like the correct factory piece to me. Can somebody confirm this for me?

Doesn't matter which one is correct you should not use either one if you are planning to have the system actually work. By this time neither one will be any good. Age is bad enough but even a new one should never be left open to the air.

I understand what you are saying, but it does matter to me which is correct. This system is being cosmetically restored as accurately as possible. but will not function and will never be turned on. I’m well aware of the downside of exposing any part of an A/C system to the atmosphere, but that is not an issue here. So, back to my original question.
