I bought one of those cans because I forgot to take my old can with me and I needed gas for my lawn mower. I tried using it but got frustrated so I took the spout off and poured the remaining gas into my old can. Then I chunked the new can in the trash!

The New Gas Cans Suck!

You spill more gas messing around with them, they should have left them alone.

Nice Vid, I haven't seen any with that type of nozzle, the ones around here have a twist valve at the bottom, and you can just gut the valve. Mostly I just use a funnel.

The gas flow was still slow, So I do like there solution for adding a vent, I think I'll be doing that.

I just read an article that said that blitz had been sued out of business recently. Apparently when you pour gas out of one of their cans onto a fire bad things happen, and the cans were considered defective for that reason - our wonderful legal system at work representing idiots. The article said that they make about 70% of the gas cans sold in the US.

Due to the apparent legal liability I would guess that other manufacturers won't be stepping up to fill that void anytime soon.

Thanks for the youtube. I have one of those cans and want to go home right now and fix it.

If Blitz gets replaced by a new company (which would break the liability claims against the old company) the new one might require you to fill out an application with a waiver, before you can buy a gas can. Sheesh!!

I found a Jerry can in a pawn shop. The manager said they had to sell it as an antique due to the new regulations on pour spouts. O-kay. I can still buy it, right?

I got a few cans from our local recycle center. People throw the old cans away occasionally.

Good know-how but the camera man needs to learn how to hold the camera in one spot & PAN rather than walk back and forth with it. And you don't do a close-up by putting the lens one inch away from the object.

I bet the eco-tards that are responsible for the manufacture of such useless garbage would liken this video to a terrorist bomb making instructional.

I use a 5g fuel jug/fuel cell funnel for the rider mower.
And mix 2 cycle from that in 1gal windshield washer jugs(free empties from work) for the chain saw, leaf blower, etc.
Only use them once though.

Thanks for the info. Had no idea the feds dictate gas can design. Got one from my dad and was wondering why it was such a POS design.

May have to pony up for a flofast.com gas can.

OMG that was excellent. I could watch that guy 'teaching' all day.

Instinctively, i would have done all that, except for the valve stem vent. That valve stem is brilliant.

I have A BLITZ can (10 - 15 years old) that needs the vent modification since it catches rain since it's left outside. Valvestem mod sounds trick.

It is not EPA mandated it is OSHA. So you don't spill it on a chain saw exhaust or whatever. Obviously it was mandated by those who don't......

That guy is CLEARLY prepared for Dooms day! Did you see all the gas/water/food stores behind him? Funny. I've actually ran one of these type of people one time on a medical call. They were down in their basement and it was LOADED with 55 gallon drums of water, water filtration system and racks upon racks of dry food storage.

No, the valve stem idea was brilliant. The valve stem was just rubber.
