Rear Main leak 350 V8
Friend has a 350 v8 Pontiac that has rear main leak. Does anyone have a remedy for this other than engine removal? Thanks, Frank69

I did it in my '69 GTO, only once, back in the early .70's.
Worked just fine. I then raced it in '73 & '74, having never removed the engine. But, I was MUCH younger then. Wouldn't attempt it now. Would pull & try a 1-piece seal. Most say they work good, in most engines. |

I would verify it is an actual rear main seal leak 1`st. Oil pans are famous for leaking back there. Valley pan, dist gasket, etc.

After close inspection it looks like both valve covers are leaking down back side of engine. Thanks Punch T37! Frank69
