There was quite a drama played out at the PSN that probably none
of you that attended were aware of. Ken Smith, who owns the black with red interior
Judge in the above pictures was sitting next to his car at about 11 am when he started having
bad chest pains. His good friend Lonnie, who had just left when the pain started was still in
the parking lot when he got a call from Ken to take him to the hospital. Lonnie loaded Ken
up in his car and they decided to take Ken to the fire station a block away. In fifteen minutes
they had Ken on the operating table at Baylor Hospital. He had a total blockage of the
main artery feeding his heart , the blockage that medical staff refer to as the "widow maker".
They were able to put in a stent in the nick of time and Ken is at home now recuperating.
Lonnie went back to the show to take care of Ken's Judge and at the award ceremony, the
car won best of show, with Lonnie accepting on Ken's behalf. Medical staff at the hospital
said that Ken was probably ten minutes away from death when they got the stent in. Ken
is one of my best friends and I've done a lot of resto work on his cars including all the resto
work on the black Judge other than exterior paint. I didn't find out about what happened till
last night.

I talked with Ken for several minutes while teching his car for judging. I had no idea this was happening. I am so glad he is going to be ok.

Holy Smokes Ken is a very lucky guy! Glad they made some smart moves getting him to the Hospital. He also owns a 68 Hemi Charger? The Black 69 Judge still looks showroom. I 1st saw it at the 2010 Fort Worth Car show at Amon Carter. RicksGTO's 72 Formula was stunning also! Great show and venue. DAPA did another excellent job.

thanks Al, that was my favorite venue for a car show as well. P-51's and Pontiacs just seem to go together!

What a great show, especially with the added venue of the airport museum. Thank you DAPA! I was not able to participate in the show but I did spectate with my son and nephew. Thanks to those who posted pictures, I let my nephew handle the picture taking at the show as I had my son but he chopped off the front and back of most of the cars making for a lot of ‘door’ shots, lol. I did go to the track on Sunday, brought everything needed to open the dumps, adjust the timing, and move the shift points. First couple of baseline passes I just left off idle and had the shift points set kinda low. The passes were ok, uneventful, except that I tossed and mangled my alternator belt. I was done after that but the car was a little faster than last year. There’s more in it and I’ll keep at it. Here are some pics!
