I just purchased a 75TA with 23400 miles on it. I am looking for a shop that can install a t-top from a 76TA onto my 75TA. I also need the car painted.

Hi 75newbie,

Well it is nice to finally see another Pontiac fan in Rochester. You must be in Gates near Buffalo road based on your ZIP code... I am in Pittsford.

Shoot me an e-mail off the boards and we can chat.

For the T-Top, you may want to call Tim's trim. They are located on Bermar Park, off of Buffalo raod. If they can't installit, they may know someone that can.

As far as paint goes, I couldn't find any shop that I liked that wasn't going to charge an arm and a leg, so I did mine myself.

Don

Hey, I know its your car but why on earth would you want to ruin a low mileage 75 by hacking it up? These are getting more rare by the day. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything but just wanted to give you some food for thought. I know a guy who didn't like the original 389 in his 66 GTO, so he yanked it and sold the motor. When he went to sell the car, it was worth far less.

Just my 2 cents.

I know doing this will de-value the car, I am just kicking the idea around. If this is too much of a pain, I'll leave the car as is, except the color of the car.

If you're thinking of using tops from a 76, they'll most probably be Hurst hatches, which are very expensive for parts/seals etc, and have a reputation of leaking and generally being a bit of a pain. Better off looking for Fischer Tops.
And if you do the T-tops, think seroiusly about sub frame connectors to strengthen the body.

Thanks leigh, funny you said that because I have decided to go with the fisher tops this week. I got a clean t-roof off a 79 and I am having that installed on my 75 with the fisher glass!

75newbieTA,

If you are looking for some super clean Fisher smoked glass panels I have a nice set. I bought them 22 yrs ago from a guy who totalled his TA (without the tops in) and I never did use them. They have been in my attic ever since! $80 for a nice pair. Let me know if your interested, I can email you pics...
