Default OE solenoid part number vs application

I wasn't sure where to put this question because it applies to so many model years and platforms.

I can see that my november 1974 dated 1967-1975 Firebird Master Parts Catalog (my go-to MPC) lists two different solenoids:
1) 1114348; used on 1108436 & 1108439 starters
2) 1114356; used on ALL others

According to my application list those two starters which used the 1114348 solenoids are:
1108436: 1970 W/Ram Air & 71-72 455HO
1108439: 1970 6 cylinder

I did some digging around on these two part numbers and looking at ones I have on starters here (which are not installed on engines);
It reads as though the 1114356 was the 'high temp' solenoid used on other GM cars (eg: 67-69 Z-28), while info on the other solenoid is tough to find.

I found a another part number;
1114362 (found one post suggesting this might be OE for a 1968 Z-28)

I found that the following numbers cross reference as these alternate Delco numbers:
1114356 = D969
1114348 = D975
1114362 = D???

Does anyone have any info on, or link to a comprehensive list of OE numbers vs Delco numbers, or information on part number superceding information?

How about clarity on which numbers (if more than one) are high temp solenoids?

Thanks once again for humouring me

I did a little research on this too. Only IRT '68 GTOs
The 356 switch (D969)was for the 1107355 starter used on the standard engine GTOs
348 switch (D975) was for the HO/RA 1108353 starters,

There was a third high temperature solenoid switch;
1114458 (D981) but I don't have an associated starter for that one. Maybe a replacement?

I ran across many references to the D981, but no OE applications for it(?)

giving this a bump to show what at the very least the service parts listings were at the time that this MPC was printed:

I just found another used one that has a brown cap with "MADE IN U.S.A." surrounding "HI TEMP"
The case appears to have a Delco part number stamped on it;
1114466
above the part number appears to be a date code:
6L2 (6th December 1972?)

Does anyone have this number listed anywhere?

Scratch that - I found this:

https://www.delcoremy.com/find-a-par...olenoid-switch

So If that link is legit;

1114356 > 1114458 > 1114466

Usually it would be read 1976, November 2nd. "I" usually wasn't used for electrical parts.

Thanks, that makes more sense.

I took it a step further using that last delco (linked) site;

I looked for the 1114348;

It looks like that one went like this:

1114348 > 1114493

Default 348

The first use of the “348” solenoid was on the 1967 GTO HO/RA.
These were required next to the very large HOT exhaust manifold.

Extremely hard to find item.
Still have a few in the stash.
