Default NOS 65.....um tail light.....umm panel??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/65-PONTICA-C...133f94&vxp=mtr

It has been on epay for a while. I have seen it before, but looking at it again, it just feels wrong that he is even allowed to list something like this.

I e-mailed him and asked him if he was serious. Let's see if and how he responds.

It's the Weaver family. Prices are always high.

Didn't know you could buy a CUT rear tail panel -even WITH tail lite lenses- from GM...

I believe some Canadian Pontiacs had these. Any one else?

Thumbs up Canadian

It's a Canadian part for sure.

'65 Australian RHD Pontiacs (which were all sourced from Canada), used the exact same parts, that is, a separate section for each tail light housing and a large central panel which contained the letters PARISIENNE.

Only fully imported LHD Pontiacs had the full tail panel such as on a Bonneville.

I have a couple of those NOS tail light housings, complete with lenses. I think I paid $10.00 each for them at a swap meet here some years ago.

Here is a link to a 65 Canadian (if anyone is close, they should pick it up just for the dash pad)

Not sure they are the same.

Hard to see in some of these photos, but it I don't think the CS or the Parisienne tail light pockets extended into the ribs. I am sure CarlS could tell us for sure though. The last 2 photos are the one from the epay listing.

Could that be a station wagon tail light or was it just cut off?

I think the reason the Canadian Pontiac divided up the tail panel trim this way (same idea for the '65 Parisienne and '65 Laurentian, one said Pariisienne on the center panel, one said Pontiac) was because these were parts essentially fitted to the Canadian Chevy to make it "look" like a US Pontiac.

But I'm not convinced the one at ebay is a match to the Canadian piece.

Check the attached pic. You can clearly see where the dividing line is, it does NOT cross the horizontal ribbing.

Looks to me that the auction piece must have been cut from a US '65 Catalina/Star Chief part. Maybe it was used as some sort of display sample? Not a service part for sure.

...And the Canadian tail panel has only 6 ribs, where the U.S. tail panel has 13.

I agree that it looks like they have been cut. If you use the zoom feature on ebay you can see the burr edge where it was cut.
