If you could spread you search out a 'little' further to NE Georgia I've got the perfect spot for you. Nice brick home on 5 acres with 6 car garage, 1 car shop, lots of concrete, pool, etc. Here is a thread about it. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=669649 The price has been reduced to $189,000.

I forgot to post that I was not selected for this position last year. I was missing one of the modalities that they needed help in. Not that I don't want to get trained, but my current position would not let me.

That said, I took a job with another company that IS going to move me there. I have about 12 months in NJ and then they will move my rear there!!! Which is good since engine blocks etc are not easy to move and it will take me a year to pack everything up and sell my house!!

Leaving a job that I have been in for 13 years to get out of a state is proof how much I hate this place.

Sounds like you're on your way! I left a job of 11 years, to another there for 2 more, to be used as a stepping stone out. Happy to say it worked out well for me.

Well it only took 7 years. But I just took a job that is going to get us there. Just waiting for all of the checks and drug screen to come back. Once that is all done, putting in my two weeks and starting to box up the house.

We are gonna live outside of Raleigh. I really thought I started this thread in 2011..

Cool dude, look me up. I'm just north of Raleigh. Congrats and good luck with the move. 2- 26' and 1-17' trucks, enclosed and open trailers, and lots of unloading. Don't like to think about it

Yeah, a few years ago I unloaded all of my blocks and parts. I am gonna have a few fire sales. I like the PODS brand way of moving. FIll it and they come and get it. I might need an entire pod for the garage.

My Tempest is engineless right now. The builder hasnt gotten it done yet.. Its gonna be close!!

We didn't price Pods but had moving company estimate of almost $11k and we sold/donated most since we were downsizing. A couple of high school buds helped out driving and we did it for about 1/3. I also rented offloaders through Uhaul, 2 guys that unloaded the trucks as we directed. That was a deal for us after driving overnight.

My son and his family live about 4 miles outside of Pittsboro in a huge house in a subdivision (not my cup of tea) but it is a rural area with great two lane tall pine lined roads, close to Apex and Chapel Hill. Pittsboro is a small Town but has most everything you need and if you need more you go to Apex and Chapel Hill. I would love to move down there too, but my wife and I both have parents in the late 80's whih precludes a move at this time. Like you, I would want a rural place with a ranch and big garage/shop. Good luck in your hunt.

Thanks! It is amazing how much MORE house we can get without making any more money.

My wife last night said she thinks 5 acres is enough.. I dont agree, but I guess if she compromises on a pool maybe I can make it work.

I want enough land to be able to swim in me birthday suit and only offend my wife.

I'm right down the road from you in Apex. I live near the Hwy 64 & Hwy 55 interchange.

Man what we saved in taxes alone would have bought a much bigger house. But since kids are all out, we downsized the house and I got my detached garage. Waited a long time for that.

Nice and warm here!!! Sucks that the car is in storage. When I got the storage unit I thought we would be closer to Raleigh. There is a place right up the street from the house that I am going to put her and the truck in until we can sell the NJ house and get a house with a garage.

Anyone know of a good exhaust shop in Durham, Mine was literally thrown on the car to get it mobile to bring it here.

WHich since I was being followed by my family in my Jeep towing a trailer, and we were doing 65 MPH from NJ to NC I got like 22 MPG!!!
