Mike,

My advice is to find storage for your car until you can afford to have it
shipped or sell it ....

Bulk carrier transport from CO to WA most likely is being quoted way
too low - the economy is not allowing a lot of cars to be brought into
CO to be dropped off so that pick up is economical

So your broker/carrier is opting out ....

Of course, you would not want to be the guy on the lower deck
of a 9 car hauler with fluid all over his car from the leaking
vehicle above

Hey Jim,

thanks for the insight.. if I understand correctly, you are saying there isn't enough business in CO for the transporter to pick up a full load when he needs it, so they can't make any money so maybe use the oil leak as an excuse?

this makes some sense, as the broker originally said "no problem", then came back with "never mind, sorry...."

I talked to the broker today and asked if I could drain the oil and ship it as non-running, and they said yes, so I will hear tomorrow if they can get it booked this way

And I would not want to drip tranny fluid on someone else's car, which is why I was honest about the leak... they said they could get it done with a more specialized carrier, but then, as you addressed, changed their mind and left me no time to deal with it

Mike,

Here is my point .....

If you care about this car, why are you trying to get it shipped bulk transport?

If you can't afford to ship it right now, put it into storage.

You can't have it both ways - cheap & quality transport do not go
hand in hand

Ship it with no oil

Not a good idea, even if you pull the battery, someone will probably
try to start it & seize the engine
