Default The Cockpit

The 1st pic is what you see looking forward. One thing I see that I like is the LACK of a fuel filler cover. The fuel tank is behind the seat. And the delivery guy filled it up before bringing it.

The other pics are of the pedals. Clutch pedal on the left side. Brake pedal, plus the forward & reverse HST pedals on the right side.

Notice TJ's "Fat Baby" boots. They ain't very long. But they are some wide suckers ! She's got 'em in several styles & colors. But, the main thing is that she can reach & operate all the pedals with no problem.

I think this Kioti is gonna work out real good, for us.

Nice looking unit. Appears to be on par with the L series Kubota's I was considering. I like those rear tires, looks like they would grip much better than industrial tires......

We looked into Kubota. I think the number was L2601, maybe. Our closest dealer had a shuttle shift model, but no HST model. Of course, like most other dealers, they "have some ordered".

But, like many other small tractors, I discovered that the Kubota has the "rocker pedal" style forward & reverse pedal. Reverse is operated with the heel. Wouldn't consider that style, at all. TJ & I like the side-by-side pedals, like our JD lawn tractor & Kioti have. Also, the Kubota would have cost more, when any area dealers ever got one.

About the R14T tires, I'd read some & saw some videos about those tires. They're supposed to be sort of a "hybrid" , between ag, turf, & R4 tires, easier on turf than the ag tires & more wet traction than R4 tires.

I wanted R4 ind tires, since they'd worked just fine for over 12 years on our '09 Kioti. The reason this tractor had the R14T tires on it is because there is a backorder on the R4's thru their system. Was the same at LS. That may turn out to be an advantage to us. I haven't read anything negative about that new tire design.

The industrial tires are tougher from what I've been told, but don't grab as well in the mud and snow.

I tested the Kubota's and really liked the L2501, but they did not have the skid steer quick attach loader available and I wasn't the first bit fond of the treddle/pedal set-up either. Probably OK for someone who doesn't have mechanical knees.

I'm sure you'll love the Kioti, they get excellent reviews everyplace I've looked....

Default Extra Function Line

I may have mentioned that it has an extra function hyd line running to the front. Don't know if that was standard, or the dealer just added it.

Anyhow, it will allow for the use of a grapple, tho I don't have any plans to ever get one.

The loader joystick has a couple of buttons on it, which I believe the salesman said were for operating the extra functions, tho I'm not exactly sure how all that works.

Here are 2 pics of the buttons.

Most likely those are for your third function hydraulics.

Mine has it, but the button/switch is incorporated into the handle as a single push button on top. I bought a grapple with the Yanmar and really like it. WAY better than a bucket or pallet forks for picking up logs, moving limbs, brush, etc.........

Default New Parking Arrangement

Decided to see if the ROPS, in the up position, would clear our carport roof, when driving in from the South end. To my surprise, it clears by about 3", at the closest point, when the tractor is positioned where I want it.

The bush hog will still have to sit out in the weather. But it will be on the concrete slab.

Also discovered that there is more walking room between the tractor & the wall. There is still enuff room to get our pickup under the carport and leave a walkway between the truck & tractor.

Will move most of the fuel cans & stuff from along the wall & make even more walk room beside the truck. I think TJ & I will both like this parking arrangement better. AND, we can leave the ROPS in the up position for parking.
