Default Round Port Headers for 1967-69 Firebird

Friend of mine is building an engine for another friend. It is a 1971 455 HO. It is going into a 1967 Firebird with an automatic trans. When the owner and his neighbor removed the engine, they cut the tubes on the headers. He is going to need a new set. I was looking around and see that there are not many options. What is everyone doing in regard to headers? The 455 HO was installed many years ago and the headers were put on then. My friend is about a month out from finishing the engine and going to the dyno. The dyno facility has Pontiac headers but not round port ones. He is going to put headers on the car again. What are some options from anyone who has done this?

I'd said depends on the power level. Under 500hp or so and absolutely no need for headers.

And with the funky 1st gen steering box in the way, headers kiss the box and plain s*ck in that regard on these cars.

I have Doug's with 3.5" collectors and live with it. Fine with them otherwise.

At least you 1st Gen FB guys have decent long branch options, or it used to be with those super LB that RAR used to sell. Not trying to be a whiner....LOL. Forgot about the trailing" style of steering box and linkage, had A-body in mind. So I've even so never owned a 1st Gen, but have worked on them over the years But to be honest, not physically put on a set of headers and can imagine the denting and PITA it would have to be.

Yup, 1000 bucks worth of Doug’s headers is the way to go.
For the dyno session with a 455 he needs 19” long collector extensions.

Gearbanger on here in the for sale section has or had a pair of new Doug's 568 headers for sale. That's lots of header for what your doing.

I have dougs on my 67s with round ports.

They fit mostly fine. Its tight on the steering gear side but they fit.
