Sneak Peek - Pontiac Journal - Holidays 2008
The Pontiac Journal | Holiday 2008 | The Pontiac Journal - A Performance Years Newsletter | Volume 6 - Issue 2 | | WINTER JUST MEANS ANOTHER SPRING IS NEXT | Unless you are lucky enough to live in one of those locales where the Winter months means lows of 60oF, it is time to prepare your Classic Pontiac for Winter storage and/or gear up your daily driver for the cooler temperatures to come. While restoration and repair projects are most likely slowing down, we've noticed the traffic on the PY Forums always picks up. So remember that the PY Forums is always here to satisfy your Pontiac fix when turning wrenches on your own Pontiac means wearing 6 layers of clothing and a room temperature beer is colder than the ones in the fridge.
We know these cooler months are the time you use to plan your future projects. That is why we've packed this issue of the Pontiac Journal with new and exciting products that may help your planning. You'll also find another collection of articles to get you thinking about Pontiacs while the weather outside is less appealing. Performance Years is also gearing up to release a new Online Ordering website that should prove to be just the way we want everything Pontiac; better looking, better performing and more fun than ever before.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue and if you have any comments, questions, articles or article ideas, please feel free to send us a note at Pontiacjournal@performanceyears.com.
The Pontiac Journal Staff | PY'S GTO/TEMPEST/LEMANS CATALOG BULKS UP FOR WINTER | The Performance Years Catalog Department is always busy creating catalogs to help our customers repair and/or restore their classic Pontiacs. This past year has been great for the Classic Pontiac Enthusiast looking for replacement parts. It seems that nearly every week a new reproduction part is becoming available. There was so many new parts being offered that we couldn't keep up with releasing new catalogs and decided to release a New Product Insert for our GTO/Tempest/Lemans catalog in April.
We've finally gotten caught up and we are proud to announce our latest GTO/Tempest/Lemans catalog (11B) is now available just in time for Thanksgiving and the Holiday season that follows. In this new catalog, we've packed in more products, more pictures, more detailed descriptions... more of everything. This new catalog is so packed full of Pontiac goodness that we recommend you enlarge your mailbox to accomidate it when it arrives.
What?... You haven't ordered your copy yet? That's not a problem, you can request a print catalog here or you can download a PDF copy here.
As the years continue to fly by and Performance Years continues to release new volumes of our catalogs, we strive to improve our catalog's quality with each issue. A huge factor we take into account with each new issue is the feedback we get from our customers. If you have a chance, send us your ideas and comments. Your comments can help to make the next volume, that much better.
| | | | HISTORY OF A 1966 LS 1 GTO | by Bill Bracken | From old to new, and back to old again. I first saw a GTO in 1965 while I was in Germany in the Army, and I loved the idea of horsepower in a small car. I thought that the 1964's looked like a box, but by 1965 they were on the right track. In 1966 came the first GTO model I fell in love with. It had everything you could want, including a long sleek body, good weight transfer and horsepower. The taillights even looked good going down the road at night and I knew that I had to have one.
I got out of the Army in November of 1965, and stopped off in Columbus, Ohio with an Army buddy who lived there. Since I could not wait until I got back to Illinois, I bought...

We are kidding ourselves thinking that this sudden drop in fuel prices is a permanent thing and sticking our heads back in the sand is no longer a viable option.
If I were in a decision-making position at General Motors, I would be lobbying hard for...

| PY FORUMS TECHNICAL TIP: PY ALBUMS | It is clear that many of you have already discovered the PY Albums section of the PY Forums. But some of you may not be aware of this little corner of the Forums or may not know how you can take advantage of it. So lets look at a few things.
Most of you know that you can add pictures to your posts to give other members a visual to accompany the text. And you also know that you can post an Avatar (that picture next to your username) to give you a clearer identity online. But it's not widely known that every member of the Forums has the option of setting up...

| 2009 PY PONTIACS IN THE PARK: DATES ANNOUNCED | May 29-31st, 2009 This year will be Pontiacs in the Park's 6th annual event. Once again it is scheduled for the last weekend in May so the weather will be warm and the racing will be HOT!! Since it's debut in 2003, this 3 day event has become the premier Pontiac event weekend on the East Coast. It’s also the first major event of the year for all of us east of the Mississippi. I don’t know about you, but after staring at snow, cold rain and generally depressing weather all winter, this conveniently located Virginia based event can’t come any sooner!
As a little spiff for the PY Forums members, we are offering prime Hospitality Suite passes for either Saturday or Sunday. While you’re racing, your family or friends can be watching from behind the starting line in air conditioned comfort. Limited passes are available on a first come first serve basis. Keep an eye out for details and how to claim some FREE passes this Winter.

Is the 2% discount worth the effort when you can just call up PY and talk to one of our knowledgable Sales Reps? Shouldn't ordering online be quicker and easier? We agree with you. Yes, it should.

This allows new music media technology (such as MP-3, CD, cassette tape players or even satellite radio) to be played in older vehicle radios. It works on the AM band of any 12 volt analog AM or AM/FM radio without drilling or altering your vehicle or factory radio. It sends the signal through a coaxial cable directly to your radio, which means the sound is as clear as the original radio’s capabilities allows. There is no interference due to wirelessly redirecting the signal to the fender antenna, just clear sound quality. The compact size allows it to be easily hidden under the dash where it goes undetected and won't cost you points in judged events or attract theives looking for aftermarket equipment. Any portable music device that has a standard headphone socket or a ‘line-out’ can be used. Installation is as easy as plugging a VCR or DVD player into your TV.
