1979 Silver Anniversary Rescue
Picked up a Z code Y89 in December. Missing the engine, trans, original silver tint T-tops, most interior plastics, wheel spoilers and console. According to notes and paperwork in the glove box it's been parked since 1988 with 100,335 miles. While it'll never be numbers matching, it's got one of the straightest and rust free bodies I've ever seen on one unrestored. Paint is shot and plenty of surface rust but an excellent foundation.

Looks like a solid car!
Being rust free a huge deal. I'd gladly trade numbers matching for a rust free foundation to build on.

I've been dragging around a plain Jane 79 for years. 301, no options. Couple of years ago I finally managed to start gathering serious parts for it. 428 with E heads, ProFlo 4, TKX 5 speed. Anything that can be unbolted (brakes, exhaust, suspension) is sitting in boxes brand new. Fortunately I hadn't started installing anything on the other one yet. It will all go on this one instead.

My college roommate had a silver anniversary four speed TA. Very found memory, thanks Bruce! The license plates read "GOFORIT". no kidding, I hope you do!

Congrats on the car. I am winding down finishing the restoration on mine. Hope to have it on the road by the end of the summer. Mine too was rust free, but had been sprayed over with a primer. I have a friend that found one that looked just about like what you have. Let me know if you need any assistance as I have been knee deep into these things during my restoration for the last couple of years. I sent you a PM.

Yeah. I guess my 500+ HP 428 will just have to do for now though.
