Help-GMC 336 389 clutch fork
This is what I have,is it a 58 GMC clutch fork? Seems to be loose and bottoms out on base before clutch release.Suppose a adj pivot ball would help. Thanks

I don't have experience with it, so these comments are merely from looking at the GMC shop manual-
Your throwout arm looks like the picture in the manual. Do you have the correct clutch? The V8 should have a Borg & Beck style, which has coil springs, rather than a diaphragm spring. The six B & B pressure plate cover bolts are evenly spaced around the cover, versus a Long-style's three-pairs-of-two. Maybe the wrong throwout bearing? I'm curious why "389" appears in your thread title, since the '58 336 is more closely related to a Pontiac 370 (just a smaller bore and lower compression).

It looks identical to the one that was in my '59 GMC, which originally had a 336 (although mine was a 389-based 336, not 370-based like in '58).

Back on line-computer crash,hard disk. The number as close as I can tell is 233126 L S. Trying to use with 58 bellhousing 11" clutch. Thanks for help.
