I am in the process of removing an alternator installaton and reinstalling the original generator and mechanical voltage regulator on a '62 Grand Prix. The wiring diagram in the Pontiac Chassis Manual shows a 50amp fuse on the battery terminal of the V/R for Gen to V/R wiring protection. Any ideas where I can find this "fuse assembly" or at least a part number? Pontiac doesnt show it in the parts books and none of the salvage yards around here have any cars of this vintage. A fuseable link is an option but I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible.

I bought one of these from a Pontiac vendor named Bill Fennell several years ago. The pt.# is 1945172 for the 30 & 35 amp gen.(white insulator) and 1945171 with 45 amp Gen. I don't know if he has any more or not but the number I have for him is 412 446 3335. He is in Pa.

If you come up dry, email me.

I think I have some NOS ones in my basement...I will check the amperage on them...you said 50A?

Can I assume you have an a/c car?

Matt in Milwaukee.
