Had a good day today. Cleaned up the welds around the cutouts and steel wooled and polished the exhaust system. Touched up some things underneath. Painted the underside of the hood and reinstalled it. We even took the car out on its maiden trip to the Soda Shop for lunch!!! Now some minor tweaks in lining up the front sheet metal, pin stripe, lots of cleaning in the interior, and sanding and polishing the paint. I'm still in the air on whether I'm going to letter the car or not.

I have heard that there is some paint made for lettering that can be 'washed' off with some effort. Anyone heard of it or have any sources?

Kids art paint called 'tempra' paint. That's a type of paint not a brand name. I use it to do my car.It wipes off anything with water.Got mine at walmart.I painted 'Royal Test Car',Royal Oak,Mich.on the 1/4s and on the front fenders I put '360 HP'.After it dries I take a damp rag and wipe the lettering to give a weathered look,as if has been on the car since the 60's.

I like the 60's dragcar look. What springs are you using?I'd like my 65 to sit higher.I put new TRW springs in the rear but it doesn't sit any higher than it did with the old springs.

I've got Air Lift air bags inside the rear coils. They were new rear coils on the car when I bought it. Not sure about the part #. The fronts are Moog 5272.

No, Friday was the first day out of the shop, we just drove it about a mile to lunch. Needs some final tuning. There is always next season.

Thanks for posting this, Goatman. I was looking for a previous post on the topic and I couldn't find it.

Jerry - the car looks great and I am impressed with how quickly you got it done.

And I'm lovin' those tow bar brackets!!

Not much accomplished this week. Got the upholstery pulled out just to clean everything up Also, my striper showed up today. I didn't realize how much better the pinstripe made the car look.

Actually I planned to shot a video of it running yesterday, but I'm still having a little problem of getting the carbs to idle after it warms up. It cranks right up and runs fine when the choke is working, but when it warms up and the choke goes off it wants to die. As soon as I get that worked out, I'll post a video and let everyone hear it run. It does sound pretty neat!

Nothing happening during the holidays. Mike (my helper) has been working tons of overtime on his regular job. Hopefully he'll be able to come back and get back on it next week. I did go out and put on some of the water slide decals that I bought for it. Hopefully they don't make it look to tacky.

I also stuck on a vintage GA inspection sticker and oil change sticker. I finally got my 65 GA tag painted and went to the local tag office and did the paperwork to be able to run it.

Is it legal to run the 65 inspection sticker? How cool is that. Can't do it in PA, regardless of what plate you run.

Since most GA counties haven't required an inspection since the early 70's, I don't think it would be a problem.
