We modified a repop shifter porch to extend down to the floor. I think the tunnel is maybe 1 1/2 inches taller now. I'll be using a console, so the whole console will be raised. The shifter porch will have a flange added all the way around so it can be screwed down for shifter access.

Now the car's back on the rotisserie so the floors/tunnel can get finished. The chassis is back home. Hopefully in a couple more weeks they'll be mated again for the last time.

Looks great Ron. Nice work on getting the tunnel done too. And I bet it'll look nice with the console raised.

Time for an update. The car's still on the rotisserie, but will be off soon. All the metal work is finished and in primer. The floors are getting shot in satin black tomorrow. They've been primed and sanded twice. The trunk primer is done, needs one more sanding, then will shoot the color in the trunk, while it's still on the rotisserie early next week. It could be rolling again next weekend. Should have color on the whole body soon.

Nice work! Nothing like real progress. I'm getting motivated to get mine on a rotisserie now!

Looking good, sounds like we are almost at the same stage, except mine is bolted to the chassis already. LOL

Thanks for the love/hate all.

LeMans64, I wish mine was as far along as yours. Guide coats. That won't happen for a few weeks.

And yours is together still. Mine is completely torn down, shell is gutted, dash is gutted, doors are gutted. Long way to go. Hopefully next season.

Ya but mine went to bodywork in May and it's only at this stage yet. Doors are stripped inside, interior is stripped. I am hoping for paint by Oct. then I have all winter to assemble. It was a driver last year, LOL. Not as many toys as yours though, m21 with 3.9 rear and a (sbc) Oh sorry to say that but it's what it is for now. It's just a toy to play with for now, and up here in Canada the 389's are rare. Bumpers are all redone and waiting.

Kevin, yep, they're black. I was there last Friday and they were black. Forgot my camera. Glued and screwed the drain plugs in. He was going to shoot the trunk either Saturday or today. I'm supposed to go over to put it on the chassis Friday afternoon. Then I can take back that damn rotisserie, maybe Sunday? I haven't talked to Tracy yet. I want to confirm I'm on schedule with the painter, I'll see him Wednesday. If you're not busy Friday at 1pm, come on over to drop the body on.

Great day today. The body was placed on the chassis for the last time. The floors and firewall are all done, and the trunk was sprayed while it was still on the rotisserie. It was fantastic to finally see some color on the car.

Here's what the trunk looks like indoors. Yorktown Blue. This is about what I expected the color to look like. A Light Blue Silver Metallic.

I was pleasantly surprised when we got the car pushed outdoors. The Yorktown Blue completely changed and got much more blue. There's a ton of fine metallic and some pearl in the color. I like. I can't wait for the rest of the car to be like this.

Lookin' good, Ron. I really like that Yorktown Blue. My 64 is an original Skyline Blue car and I toyed with the idea of changing it over to Yorktown since this is a complete frame-off rotisserie restoration. I even went so far as to have the hood painted Yorktown just to see what it looked like. It's a beautiful paint. But something kept tugging at my innards to keep it the original color, so it will be Skyline Blue again, whenever it gets to that point.

I've had a devil of a time trying to match the blue interior paint color. I've ordered small cans of paint from several shops who said they had the original color, but they're not even close to my original. It has delayed my sending the car out to the blaster, as I want to make sure I've got that paint down to the right shade before I don't have anything to compare it to. My body guy has matched it up pretty closely, better than anyone else, but it still seems to lack the little shade of gray metallic that's in the paint. He attributes that to 45 years of sunshine and wear and maybe he's correct. His sample does seem to match up well to the portion of the dash that was under the dashpad. I'm probably going to go with what he's got.

Pecosbill, thanks. Regarding the interior blue, I haven't seen a sample of what my painter will come up with for it yet. I do have one very good sample of the original lower color. It was under the trim plate on the ashtray. I've preserved it so I can check the mix from the painter. If it looks good, I'll let you know here. I don't have a good sample of the dark, flat blue for the top of the dash. I'll see what they come up with based on the codes in the Resto Guide. Unfortunately a previous owner decided to brush most of the interior panels black. I was happy to find the blue on the ashtray.
