69 Judge purchase help.
Since the early 70's I've owned the first series 64-67 GTOs but am interested in buying a 69 Judge. (Passed on buying a fully restored Ram Air IV in the 80's for $10,000 and have had regrets since then!) Anyway, there is a restored Judge on ebay now, item # 250553976349 offered by best of show in Mentor, OH that appears fairly decent. Does anyone know the car or are there any obvious concerns that I should be aware of?

You REALLY want us to pick it apart? Because we're pretty good at that.....
I'll get things started....the horizontal bars on the fender emblems should be body color... Next -

Thats being nice Chris!! It really amazes me everytime somebody gets duped into thinking about buying a car like this. Clever photography gets everyones juices flowing on an a POS in my mind. Yeah it looks like a great car at first but where do you start with this one. Ive talked to this guy before and told him he was misrepresenting this car before and he knew and said he would fix it. 1st things first Its an original 3 speed car. When there is no transmission choice on the PHS that means it was ordered with the base 3 speed. I found this out a few years ago when i sold one and didnt take notice and the guy sued me. Also its not the original engine either and your considering paying 55K? REALLY? thats outrageous. wrong rims, master cylinder, engine, trans, taillamp bezels look horrible. And thats just from looking at pics for 2 minutes. I bet shes a real winner in person. RUN AWAY dude.

Wrong fan shroud, dash should either just have the GTO emblem or the Judge emblem. Not both. Looks like a repop judge emblem to me. also they added pwr steering and a console which is not on the phs.Need I go ant further??? Time to let everyone else chime in. Im going to the bar and having a drink on this one.

Underside shouldn't be complete body color, just over spray.
Body plugs shouldn't be painted at all, were installed after the car was painted. Door strikes should be body color. Don, wish I could join ya!

One has to wonder, when the car is described as a "frame-up"restoration,why the floor pans are (incorrectly)painted body color?

Looks like a Randy Hawk restoration, his signature is to paint the underneath car body color.

1. Its missing that puerile "GRRRR" license plate up front.
2. Its painted Chevy Hugger Orange. Say, Don, did you actually SEE that POS '69 Judge in PA that Pickett used to own before I wasted two hours going to look at it for Tom? Nice $1500 car. Looked like it was done by a 16 year old in his parents' garage.

You guys are being nice! That has to be the worst upholstery work (if you call it that) I have ever seen.
btw, all my stuff is junk and nothing I own is as nice as the car being questioned.

"In naming the top-of-the-line GTO "The Judge," Pontiac seemed to be saying that they were the final authority on performance, that they were the arbiter of all that was badass, and that sooner or later all the other musclecars would have to deal with them. Ultimately, history seems to show that this is the case—the GTO Judge is the benchmark by which most other musclecars are measured, and it was definitely no pretender."
Where can I puke? This is a telltale sign that the seller is a toupee wearing dealer.

One door striker is body color, one isn't. A '69 shouldn't have a 140mph speedometer.

Come on Bill. As a a Judge owner, you didn't know about the optional plated striker on one side only? Think it was RPO code BS2 (Bull ***** Too).

BTW THe GTO emblem on the dash was an early build and IIRC that would indicate the car have the Lower rear quarter trim which is missing. The early car I owned also had emblems on the door panels as well as the dash emblem and lower 1/4 trim.
