Default I need a diagram or CAD

Anyone have a CAD or a diagram of the deck surface of our blocks? I need one with exact measurements for placing the bolt holes & dowel pins. I am having some bore plates cut for my own use out of T-6 aluminum.

If anyone would like their own let me know. The more I have done the lower the end cost will be.

Ya just not $550 for each one.

I can have upto 2" thick for about 100-150 each. So I will get two any bore I pick.

This originated from Cometic, but it's accurate. I could email a higher resolution copy if you can't read this.

I would be interested as well. None of the machine shops in my area have torque plates for a Pontiac.

Default interested

I am interested in a plate to add to your number and lower your cost. Let me know what I need to do to get on board. Thanks, Paul.

If it is a misprint which is correct 2.240 or 2.250 ?

I'm sorry to say- I don't know. Like you, I would have said that the layout is symmetrical end-to-end. And I don't know why I didn't pencil a question-mark by the 2.240/2.250 numbers.
I can try looking at my layout drawings for my DOHC baseplate, for any clues to the answer. I'll post what I find, if anything.

If I'd quit putting off buying a good 24" caliper, I could quickly answer! Unfortunately, the X-leadscrew on the table of my Chinese mill doesn't help- it can be off by close to .010" in 18" of travel.

I would be interested in a torque plate also, if it can be produced for a 4.380" bore.

The drawings I did for my DOHC didn't help- I just referenced bore centers.

Measuring dowel pin centers on one of my M/T blocks indicates that the combination of 2.240" and 2.250" dimensions is closer than if they were both 2.240" or both 2.250". But that might be just that particular block, or my measuring inaccuracies.

Default Dowel pin locations

X=9.180"
Y=1.285"
Ø = .308" (Wade at BOP Engineering has the correct dowel pins in stock)

I hear aluminum isn't best for iron heads. Will you be doing any in steel or whatever? Larry

Larry, our 6.2/6.5 GM and 6BT Cummins torque plates were aluminum. Had no problems with deck surfaces or bores afterwards.

I'm definitely interested. It would beat having to send BHJ nearly $1,000 for a set.

Wow, I didn't know these things are in such demand. My machinist didn't have one for a 4.35 bore so I made him one. IIRC the chunk of aluminum wasn't cheap.
