Default Actual specs on Crane 99893 springs?

We all know sometimes springs just don't measure what the specs say they do Comp 995s at the top of the list. I have some Manley NexTeks that are all over the place also.

So anyone measure their 99893s at 1.800ish IH?

Are you looking for numbers on new springs or used Skip? I'm running those on the Old Faithful. I did not check them new, just went with what others and Dave at SD's recommended. I am in process of reassembly of my motor and bought a digital checker because I kicked around the idea of swapping to a solid roller lifter. Wanted to see what they are used and if a shim could help some. Let me know if you need me to check them. I did not get the solids, but could check a few for you.

Dave if you can check them that would be great.New or used numbers.

I know Dave likes them for his HR cams. Seem like they have plenty of room for a lot of lift also.

"We'll After Talking with Steve C, He suggested that I have my current new springs checked, why not car is down anyway, well At my Target IH of 1.750 the pressures were only 145! At my current IH of 1.800 they tested only at 130! They are advertised as 130 @ 1.8500 install. So I am Not sure I am confortable with only that amount for this setup, waiting to hear back from Dave, to get His input also."

And related, I know of one set of 99893 springs removed after a dyno session and tested at 1.785" IH and they were at about 145 lbs seat pressure.

We run test on springs where i work. They are usually 80-100 lbs springs not as stiff as valve springs. However, most of our testing involves testing the spring rate, heat setting the springs for 10-12 hours at 250-290F and at various installed heights. Then we run them through the spring checker again. They will usually give up some load and then take a set. The company I work for actually makes some of our own springs, and we buy some from other spring manufacuters. Basicly, they are not an exact science. Springs will vary from lot to lot. We test the springs under load for straightness also. Depending how they are ground flat on the ends, they will bend under load and this will also effect how repeatable they are and can actually induce a side load if cocked enough. These springs are used in aviation fuel controls and need to be of the highest quality. Like i said they are not always spot on.

Barry.
