Default Wanted 68-72 Lemans or Tempest Wagon

I've been sending out feelers looking for a 68-72 Lemans or Tempest wagon and now I'm in the full bore ready to buy mode. The car needs to be in very solid condition to begin with and I would certainly prefer to find a 71-72 T-41 car but will consider all candidates. I would much prefer to pay more for a really clean car than to have to do rust repair. If the car isn't a T-41 already, my plan would be to do a GTO front end conversion on it. Also, I'm not interested in cars with woodgrain sides on them, nor cars that have had heavy rust repair on them. I would however entertain having a car built from a completely rust free roller if it made sense.

Like everyone else, I don't want to overpay for a car, but I'm not trying to cheap out either. Just need some help finding the right car. Will consider cars anywhere in the U.S., but I'm in Wisconsin. I've purchased several cars remotely in the past so I know the drill.

I appreciate any tips that help me find car.

Thanks
Old Joe

Thanks for the info. I really want a wagon, but if this is a clean car at a good price, I might change my mind. Sounds like an attractive car. I'll drop him an email.

Thanks for the information. I have been considering that one, but it needs a lot of love.

Again, thanks for the lead. One of these is going to bring me the car I'm looking for. That car was for sale pretty much as is except for the wheels and tires at around $15K for most of the year from I'm guessing a prior owner as the Craigslist posting wasn't nearly as nice.. It still doesn't have turn signals in front. I didn't even look at it at the $15K mark as the prior owner had said the hideaways weren't hooked up and I'm not crazy about a two tone brown car. Sounded like an incomplete conversion to a GTO front end and still somewhat looks that way. If it was still $15K, I would have to say that I'd I have to be interested now that I see better photos of it. I made a mistake not following up on it earlier.

Thanks for trying.

I very much appreciate the lead, but it's too rusty for me to tackle. It is cool looking even its current state. The search goes on......

Thank you

I suppose this is sorta what your lookin for, just cheaper.

Here's one in Australia.

Don't know how bad off this one is. Only saw 1 pic. Lots of these ads are old. So, I don't know if the cars are still for sale, or not.

Not what you want & may not even exist, but a Google search turned up these. I suppose any of these could be built into nice Pontiac powered street "sleepers".

Thanks for taking the time to surf. I didn't check out the car from Australia, but I'm pretty sure all of the rest of these cars were sold long ago as I looked up the same cars through Google too.

Again, I appreciate your doing this, but I also want to keep our Pontiac buddies safe during searches. Some of the sites are a little bit suspicious as they seem to keep cars that have sold on their sites for years after they are gone and........ my McAfee security software flashed warnings when I did a similar search a while back. I ended up with malware that I had to clean up. Just pointing this out as I don't want anyone to end up with the same problem when trying to do a good deed.

Again, your effort is much appreciated. Eventually a car has to surface..... and I'm betting it will be through this forum from guys like you.

Scott and I have reached an agreement on the sale / purchase of his gorgeous wagon and hope to complete this transaction in the near future. I've been walking around in a state of disbelief that my long search would end with what I consider the most beautiful GTO wagon on the planet.

If you haven't seen this car, check out the links he posted!

Thank you Scott.
