Default Stupid decal question

I have two 70 gto trunk decals from I believe 2 different manufactures. The tops of the G,T and O are even with a straight edge. If you measure the G its 1 1/16" tall and so is the O. The T is only 1" tall. So the tops of the letters are even but the bottom of the T isnt because its 1/16" short. Both trunk decals I have are the same way but subtle differences look like 2 different manufacturers. Did pontiac do that from the factory or did these manufactures mess them up? Told you it was a stupid question.

That picture doesnt represent the actual trunk only decal at all....I have the big GM book that shows that pic and full assembly. If someone had a NOS 70 trunk decal we could see if pontiac intentionally made the T shorter for some reason or if the aftermarket messed them up.

Are the fender decals and the deck lid decal different in 70? The one on my deck lid is an NOS one I bought from the dealer in 1983 I worked at, but I think its a fender decal?

Ok, I answered my own question. I looked it up in the Ames catalog. They list a smaller one for the trunk lid. X503A Trunk, X503 Fender.

I did the same thing back in 1986 when I had my car painted the first time,,,used a fender decal on the trunk. Didnt realize there was a trunk only one.

I actually like the fender decal better. There pretty close, I guess I don't understand why they would use 2 different ones that are so close to the same. I think it would cut down on inventory if nothing else. My trunk decal has been there since the car was painted in 85, it's going to stay right there. lol

In the graphics industry, the round characters are always slightly taller than square characters. Because of the small base of the round characters, they will appear shorter to the eye next to a square character if made the same size.
