Default 1970 grand prix gauge help

Who is a good source to restore my rally gauges and dash tach from my 1970 Grand prix? I thought I remembered that the Grand Prix gauges were back lit different than the GTO gauges? How is it different?

There are very well known and reliable members that offer that information and or services.

Yes GP gauges have a blue backlight filter and the same gauges in a GTO have a clear one. If you have a clear one you can make a blue filter, it is pretty much just a pale blue. Filter is used in the GP hood tach, dash gauge have the same color but I forget how.

Default ALL the dash and forward-mounted lamps on the 1969-70 GPs had the blue/green filter.

Hood tach, dash tach, clock, speedo, gauges and radio.

I'm remembering them to be a little more green in color, but our Grand Prixs have all had the batteries removed, so I can't just go turn on the lights and check.

They used the 194-style push-in lamps with twist-in sockets in these locations. The filter was simply a really thin, tinted plastic 'bubble' that was inside the gauge pod containing the gauge.

I don't know if they are reproduced, but there are plenty of old speedos and clocks and gas gauges out there that still have the filters inside.

Good luck!

Ive pulled 69 and 70 GP Rally Cluster gaugepods and the only difference i recall was a lower mount tab was angled.
