Default NOS OHC Cam Cover / checkout the paint

Interesting. Over the years there has been some question as too the originality of the paint scheme on the OHC motor.

Question Doesn't look like a factory treatment,

I think Pontiac (GM) was to cheap to do that from the factory, hell they even stopped painting the fins in '69 just to save a few bucks.

"Pontiac Engineering Bulletin 66-20 indicates that the OHC6 was to have black painted ribs on the cam cover and timing belt cover. Red paint was to be on the "Overhead Cam" letters, the "PMD" letters, and the ribs that framed the PMD letters".

IMO it Looks more like someone was trying to match the '66 diplay engine in the last 2 pics.

Was the different paint schemes changed at the model year change over on the cam and belt cover? (ie: 1966 Black Stripes/Red Letters, 1967/68 All Pontiac Blue, 1969 Pontiac Blue with natural fins) So, let's post what we know, with pictures, the different variations that GM offered. It will help clarify what I believe as correct. (I only have 67 and 68 engines) Thanks!

They've had it listed before and it was not painted.

A lot of 66-68 painted as per bulletin.

The only varation that I have even seen was on the early release engines which are seen on most of the '65 mag covers. I chose to paint mine this way.

69 "everything" painted blue no detail to fin as seen in all the dealer cats.

Looks real nice! Frigidaire looks super. I wasn't brave enough to paint the Belt Cover stripes.

I should know this but looking for the definitive word on OHC paint.
Was this engine the same blue as the 66-69 V8s?
