My front cragars are 3.25 BS andf my front suspension has rebuilt and doubled checked for any other problems,I do have 16 x 8 in wheels on the car right now with 5 in backspace 225 50 on the front and fit fine,I'm trying to put 15's on and I didn't think of the backspace would be an issue with smaller wheel and tire, especially when I have 15 x 6 cragars on my 67 with 215 70 15 with no problems

You say the 225/50/16's (24.8") are bigger than your 215/70/15's (26.'8).

But in fact, they are a full 2" SHORTER. That is why they don't rub.

The available space in the front end is different on a '67 vs a '65, but with proper BS, you can fit a 215/70/15 on a '65 with a 6" rim.

Try off set bushings in the lower front control arms. This will also add positive caster..
