I know that a 70 formula with a ram air IV wasn't available but that didn't stop me. I had an original 70 ram air IV from a GTO and wanted to restore a 70 formula I now have a frame off Lucerne blue with bright blue interior ram air IV 70 formula It's 100 percent correct under the hood and is a definite eye catcher

Looking more and more like this wasn't something that could have been ordered but wasn't. Not Pontiac promoted or advertised, and murky documentation on real availability. sounds nebulous at best, until a holy grail document surfaces. Kinda doesn't matter now. Cool what if fodder.

I have only seen in pictures. One was for sale a few years ago somewhere in the northwest region here, on CL, I really wanted it. I did my Esprit sleeper version myself. except T400 / 455HO. Esprits without Formula hoods seem rarer than flat hood ones now, ha.

Rocky has a good take on what marketing and sales were thinking with regard to the RAIV option. The attached page from the ‘70 Product Assembly Document tells us that engineering and manufacturing definitely planned to offer the combination. The only unique part on a RAIV formula would have been the air cleaner. Here you can see the L67 part number in the upper left and the illustration shows a RH exhaust pre-heater which was not part of the RAIII package.
