We're most likely done racing the rest of the season pending parts turnaround. After the 7.44 run, the valve lash on some of the intake's went away. Pulled the heads and determined all the intake valves we're tuliped. Top end disassembled, heads/seats visually look ok. Heads will be at the machine shop early next week for inspection. 2 pushrod tips damaged along with a a couple or bushed roller rocker tips.

Didnt you switch to Titanium and Inconel valves?

We always had Inconel exhaust valves. The MFG said the stainless would be ok for the current application. Ti intakes valves are in the design process, need to check out the heads and determine the best seat material.

What MFG was that? It amazes me that some of these people say you can use those valves in your combo...

I ordered my Ti/In valves 2 weeks ago, and they said 3 - 4 weeks...

I remember seeing EX temps in the 1600 to 1800 range always ran Ti. intake and Inconel ex -- when the header were glowing red on the dyno at 11lb of boost it took very little to convince on the valves.

Because of the large intake valve size, your going to need TI intakes for sure. I would recommend a flat head on the valve. No need to start the tulip effect by the natural design. Beryllium/Copper would be my seat material of choice. With where your headed performance wise, TI exhaust valves won't live long IMO. The smaller head will allow some type of super alloy inconel to get the job done. We had to go to 3/8" exhaust stems because of the bending force on the red hot valve stems near the head. You may not have to go to that extent. If you want to send me a PM, I can share specifics of actual pieces and people to talk to directly at the manufacturer. Once we got the right parts, we had very little valve problems that were not caused by other issues in the engine. Mid 7 second performance seems to be the break point where better materials are needed to live a longer life IMO. That car has so much room to grow, the best parts available will have to be used. Glad the heads were not hurt. The beryllium/copper seats conduct the heat into the aluminum in a far superior fashion as well.

Have any of you tried Moldstar 90 valve seats? Beryllium/Copper looks to be the popular choice and will most likely be what we end up using. We'll stick with the inconel exhaust, the Ti intakes were in the plan for this winters refresh. Unfortunately the TRU-FORGED ''SEVERE PERFORMANCE" intakes valves didn't last more that a few runs.

Why not try to contact Big Chief on Facebook? He has great experience and results with a similar combo and if you can get him, he is helpful. Many years ago he came here often asking for advice. I’d hope he’d pay it forward.

Datalog from the AUG 29th 7.449ET run.

Heads are at the machine shop, waiting on final measurements before ordering a set of seats. Lifters and Rockers send back to vendors to be checked and refurbished.

Finally I should be getting the Raven's top end back together soon, getting ready for 2022.

He has one of the coolest Pontiacs on planet earth.
Put a LS in her and she qualifies as a "who cares" car as far as myself and lots of other people are concerned.
I have even seen 60s Chebbies at the track who put a LS under the hood trying to go fast, think they are cool. Coil on plug and all that.
Then they run a 12 and I chuckle at them asking them why ? Ruin the car to run a 12.
I know, I know, they can make a ton of power with boost.
I will pay twice as much to not go as fast in a Pontiac than be one of "them".
