Awesome car.

Dual snorkel air cleaner on a ‘68? I thought it started in ‘69? Figured maybe it could slip its’ way into a late build but the air cleaner is dated Feb of ‘68?

Cool car and awesome color.

I don't think the air cleaner or carb are original.
Standard 400 had a 702863 carb. This carb appears to be re-stamped.

Other than that and a few other minor items (carpet) it is a beautiful car and a well done restoration

Seller (Citrusz) is a member here though he hasn’t been on since around January. Car is in the next town over from me. Thinking of seeing the car in person but reserve price will probably be too high with all the work that was done. I’d consider trading my 68 Lemans convertible (350 HO, 4 speed 1 of 176) towards it if he was interested.

Saw that yesterday in the 1969 Convertible thread. Very nice car. Amazing detail and documentation. A few very small nits from a "correct" point of view, but you'd be very hard pressed to ever find a nicer and more documented car.

Was a RA II option in '68, maybe that has a dual snorkel for when the RA is closed.

Thumbs up

A lot of hard work has gone into this car. It looks great.

Allow me to dispel any rumors and false claims pointed out in this thread. The 7028261 carb is factory original to this car. Do your homework on how to decode a Quadrajet. IT IS NOT A RE-STAMP. The dual snorkel air cleaner was added as a personal preference. Its just looks cool.

I have done my homework, so I'll just lay it out as I see it in the 68 Factory Manual.

7028261 is for the 250 Sprint engine M.T.
7028263 is for the Std 400 or 428 M.T.

When you think about it, a 61 carb is probably pretty rare if they were typically used on the high performance OHC 6 engines.

It appears to still have its original curved glass rear window! Nice. The repro's are flat (or at least used to be).
