Question 71 T/A Shaker Ground Strap and Engine Grounds

I have searched this forum on this subject and found some info on. I have seen that there is a strap that connects from the rear bottom of the shaker to where? I think its somewhere on the firewall. What type of connection is used on the firewall? And where can I buy the parts I need to make the shaker work properly? If anybody has pics of the strap in use on the car would be fantastic. Also, I would like to replace all of the ground straps under the hood. Where are they all connected? Pictures always work great. Thanks,Walt.

The clip for the shaker ground wire is attached to the firewall under the same bolt/screw that holds the wire harness clip -- upper center of firewall face. Your engine ground harness should attach to the firewall below and to the left almost directly behind the valve cover.

This is how it is on 70 cars. I imagine it's the same for yours.

He makes conversion kits, not reproduction of original parts. Only one guy makes those and it aint him.

Cool

Thanks for the pics Tommie. Any idea where I could get a female spade mount like you showed in the pic? Also, I could not make out what type bolt is used to mount the ground strap to the bottom of the shaker. I would like to also see some pics from some other members especially for the 71 T/A. Any other grounds other than the one on the firewall? Thanks, Walt.

No problem Walt.
I don't know where you can get those stlye clips from, but they don't look like they would be to hard to find?Itook a look at the bolt on the shaker and it looks just like the bolt on the firewall that holds the clip on.If you need any more pictures just let me know.Tom

Thanks for the offer Tommie, The one pic is a little fuzzy and the one with the clip is a bit dark. If you could resend the pics and maybe some other members will chime in on the subject with some photos of their own.

Has anyone found a source for the firewall female spade connector that the ground strap clips to? I need one for the gramma car.

It's a weird little thing that NORWOOD should be making! It's a prefect candidate since it's a little metal tab dohicky that no one else makes...and everyone with a 70 to 72 needs one.

Norwood you listening???

Not an easy one to make. I’m pretty sure that it is a generic GM part that was used for many applications. This is the best pick I have handy I will get and post a better one tomorrow

Here's the parts breakdown.
Unfortunately item #46 "Terminal - adapter to ground strap" says "N.S." (not serviced)
