I agree it's the Box that sweetens the deal

I was going to combine my bidding on the Breather in with this Fuel Pump so I could then increase my agreed value on my insurance policy
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-69-PON...wAAOSw-Wpalsxx

Then I can beat my chest and say looky looky at all my nifty NOS parts
I digress

While freshing up the engine bay I have always used foil instead of paper it's easier to form and stick behind certain places here is a quick tip I thought I would share.

Default FWIW...

...Just a few of the details noted;
Not that this would be the end all guide but a great source for those interested.

Wink SATURDAY BLUES...

...Couldn't sneak out any foil so had to stick with Plastic & Paper.

Lots of elbow grease, a bit of lacquer thinner and a pile of rags made for some Saturday Blues.
Next I'll gently clean some of the minor carbon deposits off the pistons and ready the deck for head re-installation.

You can really see how the lighting changes the hue of the blue at different angles.

One pic it's blue and another it's silver. I think it is one of the most eye catching colors of all time.............amid a sea of gloss and semi gloss black, that silvery blue just pops...........or am I just prejudice?

I can't be wrong..............I was wrong yesterday and used up my last allotment of wrongs for the year.

Let's paint Easter Eggs Pontiac Blue......................

Looks really good Jeff! Those press shots are great, but almost better having your car as reference also, I'm pretty sure it's "time capsule" material.

Summer's commin!

Unhappy MOVE A HEAD...

...Then go back
Sent the head over about two weeks ago and picked up yesterday.
Got it home and realized there were some discrepancies with the valves.

Took it back over tonight after work and they jumped right on it.
Still hoping to get it back in the car this weekend but,
advised them to be very sure of the information provided regarding stem specs and I was in not hurry.

Oh well I guess I'll go clean something else

Talking PUT A PLUG IN IT

Well since I'm still waiting for the shop to button up the head, I've been cleaning, Inspecting and correcting lot of little details.
One of these items was the dry-rotted solid rubber plug on the Oil Fill Tube used on Open PCV system OHC's.

Using the spec from the parts books, I fell flat on any options.
I then ran a wanted post for a good used and was advised that one of the AMES offering was a great fit. Not showing/listing any size/spec I took a shot.

Well it's PERFECT.
Thanks to HOKIE for the lead!

Default NEXT...

Decreased, Inspected, ready for service.

Also picked up one of the PF7 style Oil Filters and may give it the faux treatment like I do with the PF24's
The PF7's were used on the early engine until the PF24 was implemented.

Unhappy Running out of things to detail...

...Still waiting on the head.
I missed the Spring Dust off season opener for the first time in years I'll be patient but I'm limited on that trait.

Decided to stick with the none stock detail of keeping the manifolds in a cast finish.
This round I went with a more metallic heat cast-iron coating. We'll see how it holds up.
