Default OHC Sprint head

Hi Guys,
By any chance anyone knows if the cylinder heads seats for the valves need to be replaced for modern gas using hardened seats and are those seats regular seats or are they special ones. The machine shop said the seats are to big and the head metal walls to thin. The machine shop has strong chevy 50's 6 in line experience. Thank you guys your help is greatly appreciated.

It's about a 50/50 split on those who have and those who have not.

I had my head serviced 2 years ago and we didn't see the need.
I've personally had never done it on any of my engines.
Just addressed the guides and seals.

Most indicate the Exhaust valves are the ones that they have added seats to.

Reach out to ROB he should have some good information on this;

If you are running dual springs on a Sprint & doing a good deal of highway driving with 3.23 of higher gears, I can recommend it.
Stiff springs & high rpms are what causes the damage. Of course I have since learned to shift before 5500 rpm!

I did exactly what Jeff said, address the guides and seals. I asked the machine shop and they basically said if I was going to pull a trailer on the highway then get it done, if not don’t worry about it.
